Changing of status

What is change of status?
The term refers to changing in nonimmigrant visa status to other nonimmigrant visa.

Why should I change my visa status?
U.S. issues visas depending upon the needs of a person. If you on student visa and your study have completed and visa is still valid and you got employed, you must change your visa status.

Eligibility:
• Your visa has not yet expired
• You have lawfully entered the U.S. and are honest
• You have not committed any crime
• You are not crewperson on D visa
Who can apply for change of vista status?
Any nonimmigrant visa holder can apply to change its visa status including but not limited to:
• Temporary Visitors on B visa
• Students on F 1 visa
• Politicians on A visa
• Representative of International Organization
• Employees on G Visa
• Temporary Workers on H, L, O, P, Q and R visas
• Parents and children

How do I apply?
You will have to file a petition, to change your visa status. For form that you should fill please read blow:

Use Form I-129 if you are:
• Temporary Worker
• Entertainer and athletes
• Religious Workers
• International traders and investor

Use Form I-539 if you are:
• Diplomat and government officials
• Temporary Visitor for Business or on visiting visa
• Student
• International Representative
• Etc.
